Food Pantry
As part of our commitment to being a beacon of hope for downtown Texarkana, we're launching our food pantry mission in January of 2026.
Dozens of food pantries exist all around the area. They open on various days, have various requirements, and offer various products. One thing we wanted to be hyper intentional about is ensuring our neighbors in need are able to retain their sense of dignity. Rather than being handed sacks of groceries that they did not get to pick out themselves, they'll be able to shop for themselves across several different rooms. With Mary's Closet and Mary Kay's Clinic being open on Tuesdays, the pantry will also be open the same time. This provides a convenient "one-stop-shop" to meet people's needs.
Another unique feature of this pantry will be the availability of heathy options. Our clinic has seen a staggering number of people experiencing high blood sugar. We educate people about eating healthier, but the truth is that some people simply don't have access to food that isn't ultra-processed. Being able to provide nutritional options will allow us to care for our neighbors' hunger needs as well as their health needs.
